Leave a legacy

By remembering us in your will you can make a difference that extends far beyond your lifetime to the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Legacy gifts are our lifeblood. They fund much of the vital research we support to further understanding of MS. However large or small, your legacy to us could be the most valuable gift you ever give.

Our pledges to potential benefactors

If you are considering leaving us a gift in your will, we are very grateful. In return, we promise:

  • We will always respect your privacy and handle your legacy gift with care, sensitivity, and respect.
  • We understand that when deciding how you gift your estate, your loved ones will always come first. All decisions about your will are yours to make in your own time.
  • We will use your gift to invest in high-quality, ethical research, treatment and education projects, which will aim to improve the lives of people with Multiple Sclerosis.
  • If you want to specify how your gift is used, we will endeavour to honour your wishes. We will be available at your convenience to discuss details of how we will spend your gift. Together we will ensure it has the greatest impact on people affected by MS.

Anthony's legacy

“I’ve lost a friend of 20 years. But I know he will live on through the work that MS Research will be able to do with his legacy”

Jon Graham
friend of our benefactor, Anthony Ellis

Like many small charities, we faced significant challenges during the pandemic. The substantial gift Anthony Ellis left us in his will was instrumental in helping us survive that difficult period and continue to this day to fund robust research for the benefit of the MS community. We will always be grateful to Anthony for his kind and generous legacy.

Watch Jon talk about Anthony’s life and legacy, and how leaving a gift in your will can help people living with MS.

How to leave a gift in your will

Our free will writing service

Writing a will can be a bit overwhelming, and it’s hard to know where to start. So we have partnered with Free Wills, a free online service that guides you through the process of writing a legally binding will. It’s simpler than you might imagine.

So long as you’re over 18 and of sound mind, you can use Free Wills to create your will, or update it at a later date if you need to change something.

See the Free Wills help page for answers to frequently asked questions on the service.
